- 4 January – At least 1000 cars are snowed in on the E22 highway in Sweden between Hörby and Kristianstad for a day with people spending the night in their vehicles. The Swedish Army intervened in the situation, helping citizens get out of their vehicles and supplying them with basic amenities.[2]
- 23 January – Turkey's Grand National Assembly approves Sweden's NATO membership bid.[3]
- 20 February – Sweden donates its largest military aid package to Ukraine to date with a further $680 million in aid.[4]
- 26 February – Hungary's parliament ratifies Sweden's bid to join NATO.[5]
- 7 March - Sweden officially joins NATO, becoming the 32nd member of the military alliance.[6]
